Time for another update! It's hard to believe Julia is almost 1 year old! She has been so wonderful to have around, and I enjoy watching her discover new things every day. Seriously, every day she figures out something new. On 3/14/10 while giving her a bath, Julia decided to put her face in the water. I immediately sat her back up, and told her not to do that. She seemed to really get a kick out of it. She had a big smile on her face, with water dripping down. Thankfully she didn't enjoy it enough to do it over again. The next week when I was giving her a bath (3/21/10), Julia discovered splashing. Real splashing. She'd played with the water before, but that was the first time she really splashed. And wow was it fun. So fun, in fact, that when she found the dog's water later that night, she decided she should splash in that, too. And so now, whenever she has a bath, she splashes. She doesn't make a horrible mess.......yet.......but she has so much fun. She gets excited when I start running the water for her bath.

Adam has been helping Julia bribe the dogs by helping her give the dogs biscuits. The dogs' biscuits are in a dolphin cookie jar that makes noise when it's opened. Julia now gets super excited whenever we open the cookie jar and the dolphin "talks." She reaches out for the biscuits and takes one in each hand. Adam brings her over to the couch, sits her on his lap, makes the dogs sit, and Julia holds out the treats for the dogs. They're becoming good friends.

I took Julia to the dr. on the 15th because she had a fever at daycare, and she had been pulling at her right ear enough that it was red. Now normally I'd just wait and see how she was the next day, but Adam had just started getting over strep after being very sick for a few days. Turns out Julia did have an ear infection. She got antibiotics, but only because Adam had been sick (apparently they're treating fewer ear infections because most of the time kids will get over them on their own). The nurse practitioner that we saw said that Julia was too happy to be sick enough for antibiotics, but she didn't want her to get more sick because of what Adam had. Julia got yummy amoxicillin, which she took very well. Oh yeah! She weighed 16 pounds, 3.6 ounces. According to babycenter.com, Julia is below the 5th percentile for weight. She's been there before. If she's still really wee at her 12-month check up and her dr is worried, I'm sure the dr will call and give us some advice about what to do.
