Documention is very important, even for things that are, well, unpleasant. Take last night, for example. Adam discovered a very important cause and effect situation: don't shake your kid too much after they've been eating. Result? Getting thrown up on. But hey, you're probably thinking "it could be worse," right? How about having your kid throw up in your eyes?!?! Yep, that's right. Here is what we both posted on facebook about it:
ADAM: Ok, as a father, I expect to be on the losing end of lots of illnesses over the years... But Julia, did you really have to just throw up IN MY EYES!!!? And yes, I literally "saw it coming"... That'll teach me for shaking her above my head...
BECKY: Props to my hubby for not throwing up after Julia threw up IN HIS EYES! That'll teach him for shaking her above his head after she's been snacking.
Some things that we want to document are cute. Last weekend we went into Rochester to get Samantha's 3 month pictures taken, as well as some family and sister pictures. On our way in, Adam told Julia that she was a lot of work (I think she was asking for a snack, or her blanket, or something, while in the car). I added "but we love you." Julia's response? YEP!
Samantha is already showing empathy towards her sister. Last night, Julia was having a fit about going to bed. After one of her milder cries, Samantha got the biggest pouty lip ever; seconds later she was smiling. But then Julia *really* screamed, and this made Samantha cry. Really cry. I don't know if she was scared by the noise, or if it hurt her ears (it sure hurt mine!), but she was very unhappy about the situation. Adam took Julia to her room, and once she was calmed down a little, Julia became concerned about Samantha crying. So Adam explained to her that she scared Samantha when she screamed, and asked if she wanted to go say she was sorry. She said yes, so they came back out to the living room, and Julia said "sorry" to her sister. Then all was well with the world again.
